Hospital Chief Crashes Kumasi Prison for Inmate Care

Dr. Paa Kwesi Baidoo leads Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital as acting chief executive officer. He took his top directors to meet prison officials at Kumasi Central Prison on Tuesday. The hospital team wanted to build stronger ties with the regional prison system. They discussed better healthcare for prison officers and inmates across seven stations. The visit helped both groups plan future partnerships.

Prison commander James Mwinyelle welcomed the hospital delegation warmly. He thanked the medical center for years of steady support to all regional facilities. Mwinyelle asked the hospital to buy products from prison workshops. Inmates make uniforms, furniture and bottled water through these programs. The commander believes purchasing these goods helps former prisoners return to society successfully.

Prison staff guided visitors through the large facility that holds over 1,500 people. Richard Bukari and Charles Wilkinson showed the group different areas of operations. Hospital directors saw how the prison runs daily activities. Finance director Nana Ababio joined medical director Kwadwo Sarbeng and other department heads. The tour gave everyone a clear picture of prison conditions and needs.
