Hot 97 ditches Ebro, rolls out new morning squad fast

The iconic New York hip hop station Hot 97 moved with brutal speed after canceling its long-running morning show. Mere days after dropping Ebro in the Morning, the station publicly revealed a fresh lineup of three new hosts, Ronndell Smith, Lana Harris, and Million, with a simple promotional graphic. There was no farewell period or mention of the previous team, which included Ebro Darden, Laura Stylez, and Peter Rosenberg.

This immediate pivot has many listeners convinced the replacement hosts were pre-selected well before the cancellation announcement. The station itself has offered no explanation for ending the influential show, but Ebro Darden has previously hinted that his political commentary might have been a factor. Regardless of the reason, the message from management seems unambiguous. They have clearly moved on, filling the vacant morning slot without any visible hesitation, launching a new chapter for the station, whether the audience is ready or not.
