Housewife Faces Court for Threatening Husband with Knife

A woman named Ifeoma Okafor went to court on Friday after police said she threatened her husband with a knife. She lives behind ECWA Goodnews church in Gwagwalada, Abuja. The court charged her with criminal intimidation and mischief. Her husband Paul Okafor called police about what happened on June 6. He told officers his wife came to his door on June 1 with a knife in her hand.

Police say Ifeoma threatened to kill Paul and also said she would stab herself during their argument. She also broke one of his window pieces, but nobody knows how much it costs to fix. The prosecutor said these actions broke two parts of the Penal Code. Ifeoma said she did not do these things when the magistrate asked her.

Senior Magistrate Munir Sani let Ifeoma go free until her trial if she pays 500,000 naira bail money. She needs two people to promise they will make sure she comes back to court. One person must be from her family and live near the court. This family member must show their ID card or driving license.

The second person must show bank papers that prove they have enough money to cover the bail amount. The magistrate set the next court date for July 16. Both Ifeoma and Paul live at the same address in Gwagwalada.
