ICT-2 Issues Arrest Warrants for 26 Accused in Abu Sayed Killing Case

A court ordered the arrest of 26 people accused of crimes against humanity. The International Crimes Tribunal wants former university leader Hasibur Rashid and 25 others captured. These suspects face charges connected to Abu Sayed's death during student protests last summer. Justice Nazrul Islam Chowdhury leads the three-judge panel that made this decision. The court will meet again on July 10 to continue the case.

Prosecutors brought formal charges against 30 suspects to court officials this morning. Senior lawyer Mizanul Islam heads the prosecution team handling this matter. The investigation team finished their report on June 24 after months of work. Police shot and killed student Abu Sayed on July 16 during campus demonstrations. His family members filed the original complaint on January 13 against 25 people.

The case centers on events at Begum Rokeya University during the mass uprising. University officials and student group members attacked protesters before the shooting happened. Two police officers fired shots that killed Abu Sayed at close range. The investigation agency questioned four arrested suspects during June hearings. Authorities have one month from June 15 to complete all investigation work.
