International Crimes Tribunal Issues Arrest Warrants in Abu Sayed Murder Case

A court ordered police to arrest 26 people for killing student Abu Sayed last year. The International Crimes Tribunal made this decision after reading formal charges against 30 suspects. Justice Md Nazrul Islam Chowdhury leads the three-judge panel that heard the case. Former university leader Hasibur Rashid faces capture along with other officials. Police must find these people and bring them to jail.

Chief Prosecutor Md Tajul Islam presented the accusations to the tribunal during Monday morning sessions. Former police chief Moniruzzaman will also face arrest according to court sources. Four suspects already sit behind bars waiting for their trials to begin. These prisoners are former university worker Shariful Islam and three other men connected to the crime. Police arrested them earlier during the investigation process.

Investigators finished their work on June 24 and gave their findings to prosecutors. They discovered evidence that 30 people helped kill the student during protests. The report shows how Abu Sayed died when someone shot him near his university. Violence happened at Park Mor area close to Begum Rokeya University campus. Students were marching against unfair treatment when the shooting occurred on July 16.
