A kid from Igbobi College is getting a free ride from a football charity. The Seyi Akinwunmi Foundation will award a scholarship at its annual SACF event, focusing on mentoring students in both sports and schoolwork. The foundation has handed out these awards for eleven years since it started. Organizers do not care about the total count of past recipients. They just want to help more young people each year.
The head of the event's technical team, Dotun Coker, confirmed the Igbobi student will be a beneficiary. He said the goal is to let participants have fun while shaping their perspective on balancing education and athletics. Six teams are set to compete in this edition. The women's sides are Golden Eko Ballers Women Team and Asisat Oshoala Girls Academy. Four men's teams will play: Golden Eko Ballers U-14 Team, Dosu Football Academy, 36 Lions Football Academy, and Ikorodu City Football Academy. A novelty match between old boys from the 2000 and 2001 graduation years is also scheduled. The Igbobi College Old Boys Association set from 1978 to 1980 is providing major support for the event at the host school.
