Imo Assembly Welcomes Surprise Deputy Clerk

Imo State lawmakers picked Anne-Martins Ezirim for the Deputy Clerk position. The assembly had not had a deputy clerk since September 2024. Obinna Egu from the Ngor-Okpala area brought up her name for the position. State law requires specific qualifications for deputy clerk positions. Governor Hope Uzodinma had promoted several staff members earlier.

Lawmakers believe Ezirim will help the main clerk handle daily work better. The new deputy clerk should make legislative work run more smoothly. Assembly members talked about the appointment before voting. They decided to tell the Service Commission chairman about their choice. The commission must follow state law when making the appointment official.
