India eyes Bangladesh polls as Jaiswal stays vague

New Delhi expects Bangladesh to conduct a peaceful democratic transition, according to Indian Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal. The official addressed reporters during a Friday briefing about India's stance on political developments in the neighboring nation. Jaiswal emphasized that his government supports transparent and fair electoral processes for all citizens.

The spokesperson highlighted India's expectations for the February parliamentary elections scheduled in Bangladesh. He stressed that New Delhi advocates for credible voting procedures that represent the will of the people. Jaiswal declined to comment when asked about recent university-level elections that took place in Bangladesh.

Indian officials continue monitoring the political situation across the border as Bangladesh prepares for its national elections. The February vote represents a significant moment for democratic institutions in the country.
