India Post dumps old wraps, goes green with IIP

India Post formed an alliance with the Indian Institute of Packaging on Monday to create environmentally responsible packaging for mail delivery services. Officials from both organizations signed the memorandum of understanding at the Chief Postmaster General office in Maharashtra Circle.

The institute will replace conventional materials such as corrugated boxes with sustainable alternatives, and it will engineer protective containers for liquids. Postal workers will receive instructional materials on these new practices. The 58-year-old packaging research body will establish performance benchmarks by comparing domestic methods against international standards.

The agreement connects IIP technical knowledge with the postal department network of 165,000 offices across the nation. Dr. Sudhir Jakhere from the postal service and Dr. Babu Rao Guduri from the institute formalized the partnership. This initiative advances federal environmental goals while strengthening parcel security.
