India set for fierce Dhaka clash, says Sandhu

India's national football squad landed in Dhaka under tight security protocols coordinated by Bangladesh authorities and local police forces ahead of their AFC Asian Cup 2027 qualifier match. Goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu emphasized that despite both nations being eliminated from qualification contention, the traditional rivalry between neighboring countries would ensure intense competition on the pitch.

Captain Sandesh Jhingan stressed the team's objective of performing at maximum capacity while maintaining tactical discipline throughout the contest at National Stadium. Several squad members have previous experience playing in Bangladesh through youth international competitions and club fixtures, with winger Lallianzuala Chhangte being the sole current player who has represented the senior team on Bangladeshi territory during a 2018 regional championship.

Players acknowledged receiving briefings about domestic conditions but confirmed feeling secure within their protective arrangements, praising the Bangladesh Football Federation for hospitality since arrival. Head coach Khalid Jamil conducted activation and training sessions as the visiting squad prepared for their fixture.
