India-US defense nerds swap stethoscopes in DC

Indian military medical officers visited Washington to strengthen cooperation with American counterparts across multiple defense departments. Ambassador Vinay Kwatra met with Surgeon Vice Admiral Arti Sarin and her delegation during their tour of US INDOPACOM and various military branches. The visit focused on advancing military medicine partnerships within the broader India-US defense relationship.

Defense ties between the nations remain robust despite recent trade disagreements. Kwatra held discussions with Undersecretary of War for Policy Elbridge Colby at the Pentagon in September about expanding bilateral initiatives. The meetings followed the completion of Exercise Yudh Abhyas 2025 in Alaska, where Indian and American armies trained together for two weeks.

The annual military exercise represents growing cooperation aligned with the Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership between both countries. Officials from both sides emphasized the importance of sustained military-to-military engagement across medical services and combat training programs.
