Indian racers splash into Asia Pacific showdown in Sri Lanka

Monsoon rains disrupted the opening day of the FIA Asia Pacific Motorsport Championship 2025 at Sri Lanka's Bandaragama sports complex. Indian competitors began adjusting to wet track conditions despite multiple practice session delays. Competition organizers from Ceylon Motor Sports Club worked to provide drivers adequate track experience amid challenging weather. The championship features multiple disciplines scheduled through Sunday.

Young karting participants expressed mixed reactions to the demanding circuit conditions. Eight-year-old Arshi Gupta from Delhi remained optimistic about her Cadet class prospects. Mumbai's Kiaan Shah noted the track requires exceptional precision due to limited run-off areas. Over 40 karting entries from seven nations will compete across three categories.

Autocross competitors conducted track walks around the 550-meter mixed-surface circuit while awaiting vehicle arrivals. Former rally champion Chetan Shivram highlighted the challenging terrain and rear-wheel-drive Crosscar handling requirements. Additional rainfall forecasts suggest continued difficult conditions throughout the weekend competition schedule.
