India's retirement savings authority achieved record membership growth during May 2025. The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation registered 20.06 lakh net member additions, surpassing all previous monthly totals since data collection began seven years ago. Monthly growth reached 4.79 percent compared to April, while annual expansion measured 2.84 percent against May 2024 figures. Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya attributed these gains to government employment policies and Prime Minister Modi's economic vision. The organization welcomed 9.42 lakh fresh subscribers during the reporting period.
Young workers dominated enrollment patterns as individuals aged 18-25 represented nearly 60 percent of new registrations. This demographic contributed 5.60 lakh subscribers and demonstrated 14.53 percent monthly growth. Previously departed members returned at substantial rates, with 16.11 lakh rejoining the system. Female participation expanded significantly through 2.62 lakh new registrations, marking 7.08 percent monthly advancement. These trends reflect broader workforce diversification and enhanced social security awareness across India's formal employment sector.
