Tanzania has filled 1,385 of 1,387 special seats reserved for women councilors following local government elections, according to Ramadhani Kailima, director at the Independent National Electoral Commission. The allocations followed legal frameworks governing district and municipal authorities under the 2024 Election Act, with distributions reflecting proportional vote shares earned by participating parties.
Five political organizations secured representation through the special seats arrangement: CCM, ACT-Wazalendo, CHAUMMA, CUF, and NCCR-Mageuzi. Two vacancies remain unfilled pending rerun elections in Mindu and Chamwino wards within Morogoro Municipality and Mzinga ward in Temeke Municipality, where voting was postponed after candidate deaths occurred.
