Intuit, OpenAI sign $100 million fintech deal

Intuit has entered into a multiyear agreement with OpenAI valued at more than $100 million to integrate ChatGPT technology across its financial software platforms, including TurboTax, QuickBooks, and Credit Karma. The partnership will embed OpenAI's language models into GenOS, Intuit's proprietary AI engine, enabling the company's 50 million TurboTax customers to interact with their financial information through conversational AI. Users will be able to perform tasks such as estimating tax refunds and receiving personalized credit card recommendations while their data remains secure within Intuit's system.

The collaboration represents a significant move for OpenAI as it seeks to validate its substantial valuation and infrastructure investments. For Intuit, the integration aims to transform how consumers approach tax preparation and financial management during peak filing season. The deal places competitive pressure on rivals like H&R Block and FreeTaxUSA to develop comparable AI capabilities, signaling that major software companies are committing substantial resources to artificial intelligence rather than merely experimenting with the technology.
