IO Interactive stripped Denuvo from 007 First Light

IO Interactive quietly yanked Denuvo from 007 First Light after barely 58 days, and they didn't even bother mentioning it in the patch notes. Classic. SteamDB file records caught the 007FirstLight.exe shrinking by roughly 263 MB, which points to a full executable swap rather than a config toggle. The studio hasn't offered any explanation for the quick exit.

Reports suggest someone had already cracked the protection, which might explain the short leash, though IO Interactive hasn't linked those events publicly. A limited licensing window or a launch-protection strategy could also factor in. Update 1.1.0 itself patches over 200 community-reported bugs spanning crashes, mission blockers, and clipping, while adding a pair of TacSim missions and the DRS-7 Silenced SMG.

The whole download clocks around 3.6 GB on Steam, and players grab new gear using Intel currency after hitting clearance thresholds. Frame rate gains aren't guaranteed, though, since the patch reworks hundreds of systems simultaneously. And yeah, Steam's account and ownership layers still apply, which means this isn't some fully DRM-free situation.
