iOS19 Lets You Beam eSIM From iPhone to Android

Moving eSIM cards from iPhone to Android phones creates major headaches for users today. People must contact their phone company to deactivate the old eSIM before activating a new one. Apple and Google have worked to make switching between phones easier over the past few years. The eSIM transfer problem remains unsolved despite these efforts. iOS 19 could finally fix this annoying issue for millions of phone users.

Android Authority discovered interesting code inside Android 16 QPR1 Beta 1 during recent testing. The Google SIM Manager app handles eSIM transfers between Android devices normally. New code suggests Apple plans to add direct eSIM transfer features to iOS 19. A 'Transfer to Android' setting may appear under iPhone transfer and reset options. This feature would work with QR codes to start the eSIM transfer process.

Backup options exist if QR code scanning fails during the transfer attempt. iPhones would create session ID numbers and passcodes for manual entry instead. These changes would eliminate the need to contact phone carriers for eSIM switches. Apple might announce this feature at WWDC or release it quietly without fanfare. Google could respond with similar improvements to make cross-platform switching much simpler.
