iPhone 17 Air outsells 16 Plus as India splurges

Apple reports stronger sales performance for iPhone 17 Air and standard models compared with last year's Plus and 16 series across India. The technology company expects a 28 percent annual sales boost during 2025 following record revenue of nearly $9 billion last fiscal year. First-week iPhone 17 series sales exceeded iPhone 16 performance by 19 percent according to industry data.

Analysts credit rising disposable incomes and premiumization trends for driving demand among Indian consumers. Apple targets 4.5 million device shipments this festive quarter, with the Air model generating significant interest despite higher pricing. The iPhone 17 starts at 82,900 rupees while the Air begins at 119,900 rupees for 256GB storage capacity. India produces one-fifth of global iPhone units as manufacturing operations expand within the country.
