Iran, Ghana, Zambia envoys pledge closer ties with Zimbabwe

Three diplomatic envoys received formal recognition from President Mnangagwa at State House on Monday, pledging stronger bilateral relationships with Zimbabwe across economic and strategic dimensions.

Iranian Ambassador Amir Hossein Hosseini announced plans to restart tractor production facilities in Harare while establishing pharmaceutical manufacturing operations. He emphasized complementary economic structures between the nations and condemned Western sanctions targeting both governments. Zambian Brigadier-General Wilson Tembo highlighted cooperation priorities including energy, transportation, agriculture, and tourism sectors, confirming his government supports Zimbabwe's United Nations Security Council bid and sanctions removal efforts. Transport infrastructure projects linking Lions Den to Lusaka remain under development.

Ghanaian Ambassador Bonaventure Adjavor identified low trade volumes requiring expansion through the African Continental Free Trade Area provisions allowing duty-free exchanges. He stressed improving transportation networks to facilitate commercial flows between Accra and Harare.
