Ireland fights back, but Bangladesh close in on series sweep

Ireland extended resistance into the lunch interval while pursuing an improbable 509-run target at Mirpur's Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, reaching 263 for eight as Bangladesh closed in on a series sweep. Curtis Campher anchored the visitors with an undefeated 63 compiled across 203 deliveries, combining with tailender Gavin Hoey in a 26-run partnership spanning 69 balls that frustrated the hosts.

Taijul Islam claimed his 250th Test scalp by dismissing Andy McBrine leg before wicket, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz later bowled Jordan Neil following the introduction of the replacement ball. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto prolonged the opening session by four overs, attempting to complete victory before the interval, though the tourists survived to delay Bangladesh's clean sweep until the afternoon session.
