ISWAP terrorists get absolutely wrecked in Borno, Yobe

Nigerian Army forces successfully repelled coordinated Islamic State West Africa Province attacks against Banki and Bula communities during Operation HADIN KAI missions. Ground troops combined with precision airstrikes forced terrorist fighters into retreat after September 18 assaults targeted civilian settlements across Borno and Yobe states. Military officials confirmed protection of more than 10,000 resettled families from potential displacement during the engagements.

Army Headquarters sources reported heavy enemy casualties while dismissing false media claims about overrun military positions. Brigadier General Ugochukwu Unachukwu visited operational zones September 19 and praised soldier performance during tactical defense operations. One Nigerian serviceman died while others sustained injuries during combat encounters with insurgent forces.

Security personnel maintained control over all contested areas while safeguarding returning farmers and vulnerable populations. Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede leads continued multi-agency efforts to secure conflict-affected regions and support community recovery initiatives throughout northeastern Nigeria.
