J&K, Bihar, Gujarat record emphatic wins in hockey opener

Five teams secured victories during the opening day of competition at the 15th Hockey India Sub-Junior Men's National Championship on Monday. Jammu and Kashmir dominated Rajasthan with a comprehensive 4-0 triumph in Division C action. Gurkirat Singh opened scoring within five minutes before Varunpreet Singh, Jasjot Singh, and Daksh Sharma added goals throughout the contest. Bihar claimed a narrow 2-1 victory against Mizoram as Ajay Kushwaha and Amritanshu Pandey found the net, while Laldampuia Pachuau scored for the opposition.

Uttarakhand overwhelmed Tripura 4-0 behind Krishna's early double strike and additional goals from Ankit and captain Sarthak Mahar. Gujarat registered the highest-scoring performance, defeating Arunachal Pradesh 5-1 in Division B play. Divyeshbhai Rudhyanbai Wagh contributed two goals while Vijay Parmar, captain Piyush Patel, and Sandeep Parmar each scored once for Gujarat. Chhattisgarh completed the successful opening round by blanking Goa 4-0 through goals from Aadrsh Raj Singh, Gulshan Kumar Yadav, and Manish Vatti.
