Jaipur hospital probe after fire kills six patients

Rajasthan authorities established a six-member investigative panel on Monday after a fire at Sawai Man Singh Hospital's Neurosurgery ICU killed six patients on Sunday night. Medical Education Department Commissioner Iqbal Khan will lead the committee examining fire causes, safety protocols, and preventive recommendations following Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma's directive. The electrical short circuit triggered flames that injured several critically ill patients at the Jaipur facility's Trauma Centre and Orthopaedic Institute.

Sharma visited the hospital overnight, meeting injured patients and ordering immediate family assistance. The state government pledged comprehensive support for affected families while emphasizing zero tolerance for safety negligence. Officials accelerated relief operations and initiated fire safety improvements across major hospitals statewide. The committee received instructions to submit findings rapidly as authorities maintain heightened vigilance over hospital safety standards.
