Jallow's holy heist in Brikama mosque goes to court

A Farato man entered a not guilty plea on Monday after authorities accused him of breaking into a religious building with criminal intent. Momodou Jallow appeared before Magistrate M. Dem at Brikama Magistrates' Court on charges of entering a mosque at Brikama Nyambai on Sept. 12 to commit a felony. Corporal 7232 E. Fofana told the court the prosecution would not oppose bail because the offense qualifies for pretrial release.

The magistrate set bail at D5,000 and required one Gambian guarantor to submit a national identification card or passport. The court scheduled the next hearing for Oct. 9 to hear testimony from the first prosecution witness. Jallow must meet the bail conditions before his release from custody pending trial.
