Jamaat-e-Islami Reveals 33 Candidates for February Election in Rangpur

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami picked 33 people to run for parliament seats across Rangpur division. The party wants these candidates ready for the big election coming next February. Shafiqur Rahman told a crowd at Rangpur Zilla School about these choices during a Friday afternoon rally. He leads the religious party and travels around the country drumming up voter support. The announcement shows Jamaat plans to compete hard for power.

Rahman demanded justice before any voting takes place across the nation. He wants courts to punish people who killed protesters during the July and August violence. The party chief also pushed for major government changes to stop dictators from taking control again. These demands show Jamaat refuses to accept quick elections without fixing past problems. The group believes Bangladesh needs real changes before choosing new leaders.

Chief Adviser Mohammad Yunus met with opposition leader Tarique Rahman in London during June. Both men agreed the next election should happen one week before Ramadan starts. February marks the holy month for Muslims across Bangladesh. Their joint statement gave political parties a timeline to prepare campaigns. The government has not made this election date official through formal announcements.

Jamaat works hard to introduce candidates at public meetings nationwide. The party reveals potential lawmakers for all 300 parliamentary districts through these events. Rahman tours different areas to build excitement for his party members. This early campaigning helps voters learn candidate names before official campaign periods start. The strategy also pressures government officials to schedule elections quickly.
