Another violent shakedown by Jamaat-Shibir thugs. A young man named Abu Sufian Siju, a 25-year-old from Shyampur-Bajitpur village, got brutally attacked in Chapainawabganj after reportedly refusing extortion demands. The assault happened at Umarpur Ghat in the Shibganj upazila area. According to local and police sources, a group tied Siju to an electric pole and beat him for around ninety minutes, leaving him for dead. People from the area found him and took him to a local health complex, but his injuries were so severe that he needed to be transferred to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. Siju identified his attackers as Jamaat-Shibir members, naming individuals like Abdur Razzak, Anwar from Sharatnagar village, and a man named Nur.
The victim told authorities the beating was a planned act over his refusal to pay money. Police have registered a case for the incident, as confirmed by Shibganj Police Station officer Humayun Kabir. Law enforcement has already detained two activists linked to the Jamaat-Shibir group. They are currently working to apprehend the other named suspects who remain at large. Siju continues to receive medical care at the hospital in Rajshahi.
