Jenson Button tells Piastri to shut up about Norris' hit

Former Formula One world champion Jenson Button defended McLaren driver Lando Norris after a controversial first-lap collision with teammate Oscar Piastri at the Singapore Grand Prix. Button stated Norris had no intention of making contact, and that the incident resulted from a momentary loss of rear grip after Norris clipped Max Verstappen's Red Bull while attempting to correct his car's balance. The former McLaren driver argued Piastri should acknowledge that Norris held the advantageous position in the corner.

Driver Jamie Chadwick supported Button's assessment, noting the track's extremely low grip levels forced Norris into a risky maneuver. She emphasized that Piastri may not have witnessed the complete sequence of events and that the minimal contact left Piastri finishing fourth rather than causing significant damage. The incident occurred as McLaren celebrated a historic title victory, but it sparked substantial debate within the racing community about teammate rivalry and racing protocols.
