Jhon Duran joins Fenerbahce on a year-long loan

Young striker Jhon Duran has signed with Turkish giants Fenerbahce on a temporary deal lasting one full season. The Colombian forward makes this move just six months after his massive transfer from Aston Villa to Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr cost a whopping 71 million pounds. Fenerbahce officials confirmed they reached agreements with both the player and his current club for this loan arrangement. The 21-year-old goal scorer will wear the famous yellow and navy stripes for Jose Mourinho's squad. Club bosses expressed excitement about adding his talents to their attacking options.

Duran proved his scoring ability across different leagues during recent campaigns. He found the net 12 times during 29 appearances for Villa last season before switching to the Middle East. His Saudi adventure brought another 12 goals from just 18 matches with Al-Nassr. The striker helped his team secure third place during the Saudi Pro League campaign. His international record shows three goals from 17 matches representing Colombia on the world stage.

Villa originally signed Duran from American side Chicago Fire for 18 million pounds back in January 2023. He managed 20 goals across 78 total appearances for the Birmingham club during his time there. Most of those games saw him coming off the bench rather than starting matches. England striker Ollie Watkins kept him out of the first team on regular occasions. Fenerbahce finished as runners-up during the previous Turkish league season under their Portuguese manager.
