Political activist Jim Kunaka faces incitement charges after authorities accused him of organizing unauthorized demonstrations at Robert Gabriel Mugabe Square in Harare and another location in Mutare. Provincial magistrate Sharon Rakafa presided over his court appearance, where state prosecutor Dzidzai Josiah successfully opposed his release pending a bail hearing.
Law enforcement officials allege Kunaka collaborated with others to produce and circulate approximately 7,200 promotional materials across multiple areas, including the Central Business District, Machipisa Shopping Centre, Mashwede Service Station, and retail locations in Glen View and Budiriro 1. Officers traced a silver Toyota Aqua sedan to Patrenda Road following reports about flyer distribution and detained several individuals connected to the vehicle. Kunaka reportedly escaped during the intervention, while his associates remain in custody.
