Johannesburg scales dethrone Elvis Moyo at EFC 127

Zimbabwean fighter Elvis Moyo faced disaster at EFC 127 when he failed to make the required weight limit. The heavyweight missed the 265-pound mark by 800 grams during the official weigh-in process. EFC officials immediately removed his championship status according to their strict weight regulations. His challenger, Matunga Djikasa, gained sole eligibility for the vacant heavyweight belt. The weight miss transformed what should have been a title defense into a battle for redemption.

Djikasa capitalized on the opportunity by defeating Moyo in the second round. The new champion secured victory through a technical knockout at the 3-minute and 15-second mark. Moyo struggled against an opponent who entered the cage as the only fighter capable of claiming championship gold. The former champion later revealed that illness had disrupted his training camp two weeks before the event. He lost four training days due to illness and attempted to compensate through intensified preparation, which ultimately backfired.
