Joshua lands in the UK after the crash that killed two friends, funerals set for Sunday

Anthony Joshua has returned to the UK following a fatal car crash in Nigeria that killed two of his close friends. The boxer arrived at London Stansted Airport via private jet and was taken to his home to continue recovering.

The accident occurred on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway when the chauffeur, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, collided with a stationary truck. Joshua's friends, Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami, died in the crash. Joshua was hospitalized at the Duchess International Hospital in Lagos in stable condition, with his mother, Yeta Odusanya, remaining by his side. Other family members reported they were not permitted to visit him during his stay.

The funerals for Ayodele and Ghami are scheduled to take place at a London mosque, featuring a morning janaza prayer service. A source indicated Joshua is undecided about attending, concerned his presence might create a spectacle and detract from the solemn occasion for the families.

The driver involved in the crash, Kayode, has been charged with reckless and dangerous driving following extensive questioning by authorities.
