Journalist Fights CDPA Arrest at Constitutional Court

TV reporter Blessed Mhlanga has taken his case to the highest court after sitting in jail for over a month. He wants the Constitutional Court to look at his arrest under cyber laws. Courts keep saying no to letting him out on bail. Police locked him up because his show had a guest who said mean things about President Mnangagwa.

Mhlanga fights back through lawyer Chris Mhike against three top officials. He believes the cyber rules break the country's main laws about free speech for news workers. The reporter claims every person should be allowed to share ideas without fear. He also thinks protecting news sources matters deeply for press freedom.

His legal papers ask judges to check if these internet laws serve as tools to silence reporters who disagree with leaders. Press groups around Zimbabwe have spoken against how long he remains behind bars. Many say these actions show fewer rights for media under the current government. Local press clubs have joined foreign organizations in criticizing these tough measures against newspeople.
