Judge and Ohtani Ignite First Inning HR Frenzy

Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani blasted home runs during the opening frame Friday night as their teams faced off. Judge launched a 446-foot shot over center field for his 19th homer this season. Ohtani answered back with a 417-foot blast on the very first pitch he saw. The crowd of 53,276 fans watched both MVP winners go deep early. Judge joked that Ohtani was copying his swing approach.

Baseball history was made as no reigning MVP winners had ever homered during the same first frame before this game. Ohtani smashed another solo shot during the sixth frame to spark a four-run rally. The Dodgers came back to beat the Yankees 8-5 for their 19th comeback victory this year. Ohtani leads all players with 22 home runs and set a Dodgers record with 15 homers this month. His 60 runs scored makes him the first player since 1901 to reach that mark before June arrives.

The Japanese star has connected five times across his last five games. Four of those homers came on either the first or second pitch he faced. Judge praised how Ohtani stays consistent at the plate every single time up. Every at-bat creates danger for opposing pitchers who must face his power. The Dodgers defeated the Yankees during last year's World Series championship run.
