A Kenyan court postponed the arrest warrant against Juja MP George Koimburi and scheduled his appearance for July 23. The legislator missed his conspiracy charge plea hearing on Wednesday and failed to appear in court on Thursday. His attorney explained that Koimburi receives neurological treatment at Karen Hospital and is therefore unable to appear in person. The court had demanded his appearance on Friday or medical documentation proving hospitalization.
Authorities accuse Koimburi of orchestrating a fake kidnapping with six accomplices to evade land fraud charges at Kiambu Law Courts. The scheme allegedly involved Ward MCA Grace Nduta Wairimu and Constituency Development Fund Chairman Peter Kirato Muhia. Koimburi faces additional charges for spreading false information through YouTube about his supposed abduction and torture. Two other defendants, Peter and Njuguna, remain subject to active arrest warrants.
Five co-defendants appeared before the judge and secured cash bail at Sh300,000 each. The case is scheduled to return to court on July 23 for additional procedural guidance.
