Justice Afridi confronts stalled justice projects in Pakistan

Chief Justice Yahya Afridi convened legal professionals in Peshawar to improve cooperation between bar associations and the Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan. Representatives from the Pakistan Bar Council, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council, Supreme Court Bar Association, and various courts attended the session. Federal and provincial officials also participated in discussions about judicial sector reforms. The commission examined ways to strengthen institutional connections for better justice delivery nationwide. Justice Afridi described observations from recent trips to remote Pakistani districts where he assessed court facilities and identified operational problems.

Available development funding fails to reach effective implementation due to weak coordination between institutions. The chief justice advocated for greater bar association participation in policy formation and infrastructure planning for judicial complexes. Commission members agreed to place senior representatives at each provincial high court to maintain ongoing communication with district bar associations. These liaisons will facilitate continuous dialogue and promote institutional reform efforts. The initiative represents a major advancement toward comprehensive justice sector governance through coordinated and transparent judicial administration.
