Justice Ministry ditches paper pile for digital overhaul

The country's chief legal officer says the federal government is modernizing its document system to speed up justice. Attorney General Lateef Fagbemi launched a new digital platform for the Ministry of Justice during an event in Abuja. He stated the move away from paper files aligns with the president's agenda for a more efficient and accountable legal sector.

Fagbemi explained that the Enterprise Content Management System will digitize correspondence, emails, and legal documents to remove bureaucratic delays. He called the platform a key governance reform that secures records and improves workflow discipline. The solicitor-general of the federation, Beatrice Jeddy-Agba, reported that the ministry has already scanned over six thousand physical files containing hundreds of thousands of pages into the new system. She said the shift ends a slow, paper-heavy era in favor of transparency.

The attorney general also inaugurated renovated facilities for staff, including a clinic and sports center. He thanked various partners and foundations for their support in the modernization effort.
