K-Pop Demon Hunters Hits No.1 Globally on Netflix

Netflix released a new animated movie called K-Pop Demon Hunters on June 20. The film shot straight to number one around the world just one day after coming out. The film mixes Korean pop music with supernatural fighting scenes.

The story takes place during an alternate version of Korea with famous landmarks. Three singers named Rumi, Mira, and Zoey perform as the girl group Huntrix. These performers also work as secret demon fighters when they finish their concerts. Sony Pictures Animation made the movie with directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans. The film shows Korean culture through buildings like Namsan Tower and traditional rooftops.

Famous K-pop stars helped create the soundtrack for this animated adventure. Three members from the group TWICE sang a powerful song called Takedown for the movie. Actor Ahn Hyo-seop gave his voice to the leader of a boy band that fights against the heroes. Lee Byung-hun spoke for the main demon villain called Gwi-ma during both English and Korean versions. The movie reached the top position across 22 different countries around the globe.

Viewers from the United States, United Kingdom, Japan, France, Australia, Germany, Italy, and South Korea all made this film their first choice. The success proves that Korean entertainment can appeal to audiences everywhere. This animated feature combines global storytelling with distinctly Korean cultural elements.
