Kabale Stunned as Land Boss Falls to Cancer

Edmund Tumushabe Musekura died from cancer at Mulago Hospital. Leaders across Kabale District remember him as humble and honest in his work with the District Land Board.

Dr. Nicholas Kamara went to school with Tumushabe at Kigezi College Butobere and Namilyango College. He recalls his former classmate loved volleyball and always showed respect to others. Eliab Naturinda Mporera, who wants to represent Ndorwa West, said Tumushabe helped many people in Kabale receive land titles. Tumushabe came from a family with strong ties to the church and the Uganda Peoples Congress party. The district chairman, Nelson Nshangabasheija, believes his death creates a huge loss for local government.

Tumushabe will be buried Saturday at his family home in Kibuga Sub County. He previously worked on the Kabale District Contracts Committee before his job with the Land Board. His friends praise his dedication to public service through both positions. Community members plan to gather this weekend to honor his memory. Officials expect many people will attend to show respect for his years of service.
