Kabasharira Spills Wild Kazoora Diabetes Drama

MP Naome Kabasharira says her husband, Major John Kazoora, lived with diabetes for 22 years before his death on Easter Sunday at home. She told church members he first became sick in 2003 after winning the election. Doctors sent him from Mulago Hospital to Nairobi for treatment. He recovered but faced another serious attack in 2021 when he spent 17 days in intensive care. The disease caused him regular hospital visits until his final day.

Kabasharira was away in her district when Kazoora called, saying he felt fine that morning. Someone phoned her at 5 pm with news that he needed help. She called Nakasero Hospital for an ambulance right away. Her husband died before medical help arrived. Despite political differences with President Museveni, the president helped pay medical bills. Museveni also called with sympathy after learning about the death.

Kabasharira married Kazoora in July 2009 after they met working in Parliament. They managed life despite belonging to different political parties. She stayed with the ruling party, NRM, while he joined the opposition group, FDC, after falling out with Museveni. Their marriage showed that people can disagree politically but remain close. Many Ugandans consider those from other parties enemies, but this couple proved otherwise.
