Former Vice President Khumbo Kachali announced he will back the Democratic Progressive Party administration in Parliament after taking his seat as Mzimba South West representative on Monday. The People's Party candidate said he will prioritize development initiatives benefiting northern Malawi over partisan divisions. Kachali called for bipartisan efforts to address fuel scarcity, currency shortages and fertilizer costs affecting the nation.
The lawmaker outlined five regional objectives for his term. He wants authorities to upgrade transportation routes, launch Mombela University and build an international airport to strengthen commercial links. Kachali urged citizens at home and abroad to contribute to national progress despite economic difficulties. He said legislators must concentrate on measurable outcomes rather than political disputes.
