Kalybos credits the free SHS policy for NPP support

Popular comedian Kalybos has come clean about his political choices during Ghana's heated 2024 elections. The funny man shocked fans when he backed the ruling New Patriotic Party against expectations. Richard Kweku Asante told radio listeners he had solid reasons for picking sides. His decision came from personal experience with education costs that nearly broke his bank account. The actor insists money never motivated his political move.

Kalybos used to shell out massive amounts for school fees before free education arrived. Family members from both sides demanded help with their children's education bills. Community kids also looked to the celebrity for financial support when school fees came due. The comedian faced serious cash flow problems every academic year. September brought panic as relatives lined up with their hands out.

Free Senior High School policy changed everything for the entertainer and his extended family. Kalybos could finally keep money for himself instead of paying endless school bills. The policy allowed him to fund personal projects he had dreamed about for years. Relief from education expenses gave him breathing room to plan his future. The government program convinced him to campaign for the party that created it.

The actor shot down rumors that he received special favors for his political support. Kalybos worked with politicians from different parties before making his choice public. He claims pure belief in education policy drove his campaign activities. The comedian wants people to know he gained nothing personally from his political involvement.
