Kano police recover stolen cars as an AC fixer and seller busted in fraud cases

Kano State Police achieved significant breakthroughs against vehicle theft through two major cases within recent weeks. Authorities responded after Inspector-General Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun ordered continuous patrols and intelligence operations throughout the region. Commissioner Ibrahim Adamu Bakori deployed tactical teams that successfully apprehended suspects and recovered stolen automobiles. Police investigations revealed sophisticated criminal networks operating across multiple states.

A Sharada Quarters resident reported her Mercedes-Benz missing after entrusting it to 42-year-old Abubakar Yakubu for air conditioning repairs on August 28. The suspect escaped to Kaduna State, where he exchanged the vehicle for a Toyota Corolla after paying an additional seven million naira in fees. Officers traced and arrested Yakubu while recovering the replacement car and continuing searches for the original Mercedes-Benz. Another incident involved Ibrahim Garba attempting to sell a suspicious Toyota Corolla for 2.2 million naira to a Mariri Quarters buyer on August 25. Bystanders chased the purchaser during his test drive while shouting theft accusations.
