Karen's land fraud case against Ringtone and Alfred Ayora stalls as DPP seeks review

A criminal case against gospel musician Alex Nyachonga Apoko, known as Ringtone, faces postponement after prosecutors requested additional review time. The Director of Public Prosecutions must examine the investigation file before providing further guidance. Ringtone and Alfred Juma Ayora stand accused of conspiring to defraud businesswoman Teresiah Adhiambo of Karen land worth approximately 50 million shillings. The prosecution applied for a one-month delay to receive directions from the DPP.

Senior Principal Magistrate Dolphina Alego rescheduled the proceedings for September 8, 2025, after all parties agreed to the adjournment. Ringtone entered a not guilty plea in May regarding allegations from February 28, 2023. The charges involve conspiracy to fraudulently obtain 0.1908 hectares of Nairobi property through adverse possession claims. Ayora faces an additional count of providing false information to authorities. He allegedly submitted a fraudulent affidavit claiming two decades of residence on the disputed property.
