Kariba South Hydropower Station will boost electricity production to 500 megawatts this winter. The Zambezi River Authority approved more water for Zimbabwe's power company, ZESA, and Zambia's ZESCO. Lake Kariba water levels jumped from less than 7 percent to more than 16 percent after recent rains. The station currently makes 400 megawatts each day.
