Karonga Children Urge Stakeholders to Equip Schools and Tackle Poverty Barriers

Students from Karonga have asked leaders to improve their schools and help poor children stay educated. The young people spoke at Kasantha Primary School during the Day of the African Child event on Saturday. Tiyamike Msiska served as the main speaker for the ceremony. The Standard 5 student told the crowd about serious problems her classmates face every day. Many children attend classes without basic supplies like pens and notebooks.

Schools lack proper buildings, forcing students to study outside under trees. Strong winds and weather make learning difficult for these children. Msiska explained how some students arrive at school empty-handed because their families cannot afford supplies. The outdoor classrooms create distractions that hurt their education. She urged adults to help students access better learning conditions.

Child marriage and forced labor prevent many young people from attending school regularly. Family problems and natural disasters also disrupt their studies. Msiska called for stronger community programs to protect children from these threats. She wants adults to listen to student voices when making important decisions. The M'mera Poyamba early childhood program needs better support to reach more families.

District Council leader Berliam Msukwa promised to address the challenges children described. Local offices work together to fight child labor and human trafficking. Police and immigration officials help protect young people from exploitation. The event focused on planning budgets that protect children's rights. Officials pledged to make education more accessible for all students.
