Karua slams police chiefs for ignoring court order on missing blogger Kinyagia

Martha Karua blasted top police chiefs for ignoring court demands about a missing blogger. The Narc Kenya leader slammed Inspector General Japhet Koome and DCI Director Mohamed Amin during Tuesday court hearings. She accused both men of completely disrespecting a judge's direct order from Monday. The court had demanded they bring blogger Ndiang'ui Kinyagia forward or give good reasons for his absence. Karua told the judge that neither official bothered showing up to explain themselves.

Kinyagia vanished from his Kinoo apartment when masked men grabbed him on June 21. His worried family reported the kidnapping to local police two days later. The blogger has been missing for ten whole days without any word about his condition. Judge Chacha Mwita had given police until 11 am Tuesday to produce the man or face consequences. The court warned that Kinyagia's life might be at serious risk.

DCI chief Amin filed papers claiming his officers never arrested the blogger. He admitted Kinyagia interests investigators because of angry online posts he made. Police searched his home but found nobody there during their raid. Amnesty International Kenya and activist Boniface Mwangi demand authorities release him immediately. They fear police might be holding Kinyagia somewhere secret and hurting him.
