Kash Patel purges the ADL from FBI operations

FBI Director Kash Patel announced the termination of the bureau's partnership with the Anti-Defamation League this week and accused the civil rights organization of operating as an extreme group. Patel cited the ADL's inclusion of Turning Point USA in its Glossary of Extremism and Hate as evidence of political bias, and he claimed former Director James Comey embedded agents within the organization. The ADL removed the glossary after facing criticism, but Patel stated the FBI will no longer collaborate with groups he considers politically motivated.

The ADL defended its mission to combat antisemitism and expressed continued respect for law enforcement agencies. The organization previously confronted public figures over antisemitic statements, and it played a role in corporate decisions affecting Kanye West and Kyrie Irving. The FBI historically relied on the ADL for extremism training and intelligence sharing. Critics of the partnership view the separation as necessary, while supporters question whether the decision will weaken federal efforts against hate groups.
