Kelantan calls for tighter security at border amid rise in illegal crossings

Kelantan leaders worry about sneaky border crossers causing major trouble for Malaysia. Deputy chief minister Mohamed Fadzli Hassan says dozens of secret paths let people sneak between his state and Thailand. The official warns that these hidden routes create dangerous security problems for the whole country. Border guards can only watch three legal crossing points along the 105-kilometer boundary. Criminals and smugglers use many other secret spots to move back and forth without permission.

The Sungai Golok river separates Kelantan from Thailand's Narathiwat province across most of the border area. Families living on both sides have strong connections that make border security much harder to control. People know all the secret crossing spots because relatives live across the river from each other. Geography makes it easy for anyone to slip across the border without getting caught. Rivers and forests provide perfect cover for illegal movement between the two countries.

State officials want more border guards and better security equipment to stop the problem. Mohamed Fadzli demands coordinated action from all government agencies to protect Malaysian territory. The deputy minister says stronger enforcement will require more personnel stationed along dangerous border areas. Security forces need modern tools and weapons to catch border jumpers before they escape. Protecting national borders remains a top priority for keeping citizens safe from outside threats.
