Kenyan kids left exposed in rising school terror

Kenya has pledged to safeguard educational institutions as Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi opened a major global gathering in Nairobi focused on protecting schools from armed conflict. Mudavadi called for transforming longstanding pledges into tangible measures while highlighting the escalating worldwide threat to learning facilities, with thousands forced to close in war-torn regions. The government will strengthen coordination between security forces and education authorities while implementing emergency learning programs in vulnerable counties.

Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba reinforced Kenya's determination to embed safe school protocols into national frameworks and expand mental health services for students. The three-day summit has drawn representatives from 121 nations alongside development organizations and youth activists, co-organized with Norway, Argentina, Spain, Nigeria, the African Union, UNICEF, UNESCO and the Global Coalition to Protect Education from Attack.
