Kenya's Martha Karua attempts a TikTok dance for her 68th

People's Liberation Party leader Martha Karua celebrated her 68th birthday by participating in Kenya's viral Donjo Maber Challenge. The veteran politician and human rights advocate joined six dancers to perform the energetic routine that has captivated social media platforms. Her participation surprised many Kenyans who know her primarily for her legal and political career.

The challenge stems from a collaborative song between Nairobi artist Iyanii and Samburu dancehall performer Dufla Diligon. The track features the Dholuo phrase meaning "enter well" or "come in properly." Social media users have transformed the song into a widespread dance phenomenon across TikTok, Instagram, and other platforms.

Participants perform synchronized shoulder movements, footwork, and hand gestures to the music. The challenge has attracted people from diverse backgrounds and age groups throughout Kenya. Iyanii rose from Mathare slums after university struggles, achieving success with previous hits like "Pombe." Dufla Diligon represents Samburu County's musical talent through his dancehall and ragga influences.
